Scheduled Daily Product Imports
A product import is run for every store, every day. "Product drops" are generated from product imports, listed on the website with most recent first. To avoid giving preferential placement due to alphabetization or other sorting methods, the sequence of daily store imports is randomized.
"New Product" Drops
When a product is found in the product import and not already known to be carried at the store, a "New Product Drop" is created. Users who have selected email notification and "favorited" the product and store will receive an email notification of the new product drop.
"Product Returning To Stock" Drops
When a product is found in the product import and was previously known to be carried at the store but marked "inactive" (out of stock), a "Product Returning To Stock Drop" is created. Users who have selected email notification and "favorited" the product and store will receive an email notification of the returning product drop.
Queueing Product Imports
Daily product imports are queued by the system without any need for input from store managers. If store staff wants to update product listings at any other time, they can queue a product import for their store by pressing the "Queue Product Import" button on the store management page.
Product Import Details
Store staff can view the details of all product imports for that store. This includes visibility into each row of data imported from the source, the resulting products identified and any errors found while importing. One example of an error reported is missing brand. This is common for imports from Weedmaps due to their brand certification program.
Common Product Identifiers
Dutchie, IHeartJane, Meadow, Tymber and Weedmaps all have an internal ID that can be used to identify common products across all stores that use those services. This is helpful to reliably identify a common product regardless of the store name for that product.
Weedmaps Brand Certification Program
One feature of the Weedmaps platform is that products must be "certified" by brands in order to show the brand on the product listing. This is also true of the product feed, in that no brand information is available for products that have not been certified. This can cause a lot of products to be reported as brand "Not Specified" on Norcal.BUZZ because there is no way to reliably determine the product brand.
